MCO 437 — Module 2: Paid Content Creation – Facebook Ad

Rationale:

For this Paid Content Creation, I decided to continue using moving images. The video clip is of a woman making funny, crazy eyes at her cup of coffee. Initially, my primary text was to read “Every cup should have you looking so crazy in love”. My internal debate was whether to use copyrighted music. My initial mockup with the AdParlor Mockup Generator was a take on “Crazy In Love”. It would initially use either 10 seconds of the background music of “Crazy In Love” by Beyonce and Jay-Z, or use the first 10 seconds of The Chi-Lites “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So)”, which was sampled by Beyonce and Jay-Z for “Crazy In Love”. Seeing how this could cause confusion and copyright issues, depending on which version I used, I decided against music all together. After all, person the lesson in Module 2: Paid, Organic and PESO, it states in the pros column for paid, “Reliable: guaranteed exposure for your message.” A possible copyright violation would not be the exposure my company would like. In lieu of music, the audio would just be a recording of a woman saying “mmmm” in the background. Also, I changed the primary text to read something else.

In the text, I used a hashtag of #HappyValentinesDay and some emojis of a coffee cup and a heart. I felt these elements would relate to users who uses emojis and to make the ad feel more friendly. Also, hashtags can be used for search purposes. However, the hashtag is cut-off on the Right Hand Side Ad (see end of document).

From Module 2: Finding the Right Social Media Channel, because Facebook is used by 75% of women in their percentage of users over all other social media, I used the image of a woman. The woman in the image range in the users’ ages of 25-49. Thus, she encompasses the two larger categories of ages 25-29 and 30-49. From this same module lesson, “Facebook native videos drive more engagement (97%) compared to YouTube videos.” This make video a good choice for advertising on Facebook.

Facebook, I believe, is a better decision to advertising, because of the wide demographics of users. It is easier to market to one or more demographics on Facebook. Also, the transition from Awareness to Interest to Conversion would be easier because of the design of Facebook. Plus, Facebook has options to meet a variety of budgets and schedules.
